PROGRAM INFO
Through interdisciplinary study, you’ll focus on the interaction of natural, economic, and social systems. You’ll examine past and present philosophies and practices and consider sustainable, balanced, and ethical alternatives.
The increasing importance of sustainability has been accompanied by a demand for employees with a background in this area. As you develop knowledge and practical skills in sustainability, you’ll enhance your opportunities for employment in private businesses, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
Sustainability professionals work on projects such as:
- reporting on an organization’s environmental, social, and economic performance, both locally and globally
- ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and sustainability standards, labels, and certifications
- reducing waste and energy use
- measuring and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions
