Green Engineering Concentration in Mechanical Engineering

Western New England University

PROGRAM INFO

As economic, environmental, and societal pressures mount based on our dependency on fossil fuels, the need for clean and renewable energy sources has never been greater. For alternative energy solutions to be discovered, a new class of engineering professionals has to be educated to tackle these daunting challenges and Western New England College will be at the forefront of this energy revolution.

The ME Green Engineering concentration is the perfect program to learn how to develop these untapped resources. Thanks to our new Indoor and Outdoor Green Laboratories, you will have the opportunity to work with six 200-watt solar panels, a one-kilowatt conventional wind turbine, a weather station, a geothermal heating and cooling system, and equipment to create biofuels. Courses such as Design of Solar Energy Systems, Heat Transfer, and Wind/Water Turbine Fundamentals will give you the educational basis to create innovative designs that will harness of the power of renewable energy sources and be ready to make a real impact for everyone in our global community.

At Western New England College, you begin your education as an engineer in your very first semester. To help you make the transition from high school or another college, we have a special “First Year Program.” Peer advisors and upperclass student mentors help you find your way around campus, explore clubs and activities, and manage your time.
