The Energy Storage Systems and Solar Safety Training helps fire services handle the unique challenges presented by Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and solar panel technology, which are rapidly becoming a reality across the United States.

The curriculum includes an introduction to energy storage and solar system concepts including applications, types, and terminology and to to battery energy storage (including Lead Acid, Lithium Ion, Sodium Sulfur, and Flow Batteries) and solar systems. The course also covers basic electrical theory, failure modes and hazards, pre-incident planning, and emergency response procedures and more.

Additional Details

This program is one of two FREE, self-paced, online training courses for emergency responders and firefighters being offered by MassCEC, in collaboration with the NFPA. Both courses are self-paced, interactive, video-based, and come with a certificate upon completion.
