PROGRAM INFO

The changing economy has dictated a steady growth in the share of the labor market taken by construction-related personnel. Building design and construction services occupy an increasing share of the job market. The Architectural Technology program is designed to develop marketable competence in a wide variety of skills within the building design profession. Leading objectives include developing the ability to apply technology to building design and to communicate practical solutions.

This comprehensive program prepares the student in architectural and graphic design and the application of structural and heavy construction principles. The ability to apply codes to building design is developed, while emphasizing life safety. Skills in applying steel framing, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other engineering principles to building design are also stressed. Analysis of construction materials, understanding job management, scheduling, specifications, and application of contract documents to typical building construction round out the curriculum.
