Maintenance Supervisors coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair work relating to electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and other systems in buildings or on equipment. They can work for a business or own a business.

A Maintenance Supervisor oversees three crews of building maintenance workers for a large apartment complex that hosts solar panels, solar hot water, and clean heating and cooling systems. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that each crew is well trained in these areas as well as general maintenance so if an issue arises, the workers can quickly solve the problem with minimal disturbance to the tenants. In addition to proper training and problem solving, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees schedules, records, work assignments, and other day-to-day activities.
