Legislative Intern

Legislative Interns work for members of Congress or other government officials. They perform various administrative tasks, assist with planning events or on special projects, and gain first-hand experience in politics.

EXAMPLE SCENARIO

A Legislative Intern is interning for a member on the state Senate for the summer. The Legislative Intern has attended several hearings on a recent bill about increasing the mandatory generation of clean energy in Massachusetts by 2020. The intern has also been doing research on how the bill will affect current legislation and reports findings to the Senate’s senior staff members.
