Laboratory Technicians assist researchers in the laboratory to conduct experiments for clean energy products and processes. They order supplies, complete administrative work for the lab projects, and provide regular maintenance for lab equipment. Laboratory Technicians typically report to a team leader in their department and may work in an industry or academic environment.

A Laboratory Technician is preparing the laboratory for a new experiment to test water purification with a scientist. The Laboratory Technician tests and calibrates equipment to ensure accurate and consistent results, orders supplies for the experiment, and sets up the laboratory as instructed by the scientist. The Technician is also responsible for maintaining the laboratory during the duration of the experiments and recording the data to be analyzed.
