EXAMPLE SCENARIO

A Construction Worker is constructing a green office building and following plans to keep the site environmentally friendly through minimal energy and water use, cleaning debris from the site, and reusing materials when possible. One job task is to separate recycled materials from a deconstructed sidewalk. Old rebar and concrete will be collected in two separate containers to be sent to a recycling company so the materials can be used again in the future.

  • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
  • Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
